Learnership Exit Programme
There are vast numbers of learnerships offered to the youth of South Africa by organisations & institutions; however research has shown that very few learnership beneficiaries secure permanent, post training employment. There are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which is the lack of effective work readiness & exit strategies which are vital for future employability. For this reason, we believe, job search interventions should be incorporated into all learnership programmes.
The GOAL2WORK work readiness & Learnership Exit programme includes all of the material, career guidance & job search strategies offered by GOAL2WORK in a structured intervention aimed at ensuring every beneficiary receives the development, guidance & tools required to conduct an effective job search & secure employment prior to conclusion of the learnership. Typically spread over four weeks, with each week encompassing: a day of lecturer- led theory, facilitation, role plays & exercises, followed by three days of self-managed and, or, e-learning preparatory work combined with online, social media or telephonic support.
A subsequent day of facilitator-led assessment, review & refining completes each weekly programme. The GOAL2WORK programme can be structured to harmonise with different learnership curricula & in many instances learnership participants are able to complete the preparatory work at home after a regular day of learnership activities.
Exit & Job Readiness Programmes
- Structured job search intervention assists beneficiaries to conduct an effective job search & secure employment prior to conclusion of the learnership
- Without an effective job search intervention few learnership beneficiaries secure permanent, post training employment
- Many simply move on to other learnerships
- GOAL2WORK successfully ameliorates the problem of learnership hopping
